I regard your opinions very highly, you know

Here's the scenario:

-2 airline tickets

-2 friends

-must travel by September 10

-must be a long weekend (because we USE that vacay time, yo!)

-must go anywhere Jet Blue flies

New York? New Orleans? Nashville? San Francisco? Chicago? Where would you choose? What would you do? WHAT DO YOU DO?!? (Sorry, Speed flashback.)

I know, quite the perdicament. I know, I know. And I promise when I can actually think straight, I will post about just how damn lucky I am.

New York, I have just been there again, it's thrilling but so overrated. Now they are considering imposing fees on handheld cameras. That sounds ominous. Where is the free country?

I have never been to San Francisco or Chicago, but I want to. I want to go everywhere.

New Orleans... might just be a unique site right now. All that destruction... not yet cleared up. Inconvenient, but historical. Still, not Big Easy at its best.

Nashville - a good place to go for fun. I have been with my boyfriend for 12 years now, and the best meal we had together is still the dinner at Stockyards 2001. We would not live there, but we would go back anytime.

A mystery dwells in every place. I could go lyrical about Montgomery, Alabama.

What do you love? Choose the place that impersonates it.

clearly Newark! That way you can drive into NYC or Philly... I hear someone fabulous lives in Philly...

I would pick a place I've never been before. And if I've never been to any of those places then I would pick New York. Or San Francisco ...

"If you're going to San Francisco ... be sure to wear flowers in your hair ..."

Ooh I'm my company's travel expert! Okay... if it must be a long weekend, I'd nix the East Coast. The time difference and the long flight kinda sucks... but it depends on how long of a weekend you want and if you're willing to waste two days travelling (or take a red eye, ugh).

I'm partial to Chicago myself, but that's because I'm there all the time. They're having a their jazz festival over Labor Day weekend if you were going to go then...

I absolutely LOVED San Francisco last August. A little hilly to run, but Fisherman's Wharf, the Ghiradelli factory, Alcatraz... you can rent a car and drive up to Napa/Sonoma. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Or Long Beach (JetBlue's alternate to flying into LAX) would be nice... who can find something wrong with the beach, the sun, and the stars?

How'd you get free tix? Let us know what you decide on!

I love SF but haven't been to any of those other cities. They all sound fabulous. How long do you want to be on the airplane though vs. how long you have to actually spend in the city of your choice?

Lately, I've been in a NY state of mind but that's just me. And it's faaaar.

You know I am going to push New Orleans and here is my non-biased reason. You are only going for a long weekend and you can totally do all of New Orleans in 2-3 days, really. Of course not all the restaurants - but a good feel for them. Whereas somewhere like NY or San Fran - which are clearly excellent choices, will not be able to be fully appreciated in that short time and deserve a little longer treatment.

If all you have is a long weekend then I suggest you pick a place that isn't too far away so that you minimize time spent on the plane and maximixe time spent on the ground prowling. What I have found with these 'economic' airlines is that they are nothing but buses with wings and stop at most ports. They manage to turn what should be a two hour flight into an all day ordeal. Give me a break. For that much time spent on a plane I might as well go to Europe. Speaking of foreign travel...does Jet Blue fly to Canada? That could be a fun option...otherwise my personal preference would be S.F. simply cuz I haven't been and in September it will still be warm there.

I'm down with Chicago. The only time I've ever been is when it's COLD so I'd love to see it in the summer.

I'm with E.b. Because her argument makes sense to me, and I think it would be such a fun visit, but one that wouldn't get overwhelming in such a short time. And can I just say lucky, lucky!!

San Fran! Napa is so close!
