Endless in my mind

A few days ago, when I asked for opinions about the cities you call home, I was very impressed by all the responses. Sometimes, I think it's easy to forget that home, like many things we love, can both drive us crazy and amaze us.

This weekend, I'm off to the lake with some friends. They are nice to invite me although they all seem to agree there is something wrong with me as I actually enjoy living in the small space of a trailer. Either I'm low maintenance or I'm just overwhelmed by how "cute" everything is. Seriously, a house squeezed into forty feet of sheet metal is cute. Have you seen the oven? Adorable.

Of course, my excitement isn't just about miniature appliances and toilets. I get to hang out with friends, float around on the boat and soak up some sun, too. Sometime in the past few years, when I wasn't paying attention, I became one of those people that says "where has Summer gone?" The difference between me and most people is that the idea of Summer being more than half over sends me into a panic.

I feel a sense of urgency to soak up even more, hold onto it as if it's slipping away. Sure, I've done quite well with enjoying it so far, but I can't help but feel it's being taken away. So I'll head out to the lake, and off into the mountains. I'll have drinks on patios and you know I'll wear the heck out of the flip flops and I'll keep asking you if you're doing the same. We can keep it alive, right?

And if that's not enough, at least I know when the cooler days start to sneak in here, there's also a land of endless summer I have look forward to.

Enjoy it, y'all.

And don't make fun of me for saying "y'all."

Make fun of you? Forget it! When I'm speaking in extremely plural senses I even pull out the "all y'all!"

Hey, it is a great word. Don't we all use it.

oh, I so feel your panic at the ebbing days of summer. Drench yourself in it....soak every moment of it up in a tall tall Margarita glass! Clink!

I love summer, I have a sort of an affection for the 'y'all' thing, and it's always summer somewhere, just like it's always happy hour somewhere on the planet. Summer never goes away, it just fades, so you can relish in the memories and have something to look forward to when it comes around again in full swing.

Oh I so hear you on the summer thing...when Spring comes along I am so happy, so much warm season to look forward to, then we hit July and I know it's coming to a close and I'm not one of those that is so big on fall, it gets cold, I get allergies, we have shorter days, so less daylight to run in...I'm panicky about it too when I realize there are so few weekends...what more can I do, what more can I see?

Oh, and the y'all, it just made me think of a good friend of mine that is from southern IL and uses that...and I always feel happy when I think of her so I would never make fun!

I too get thrown into a panic at the thought of summer ending. In particular because this summer doesn't seem like much of a summer with all this rain and gloom. I'm still waiting for sunny days, sun burns and margaritas on the deck. They are nowhere to be seen!

Live the endless summer! Enjoy your weekend.

We have been having supper outside all summer because it will only be a few more weeks until the wasps drive us back inside to wait for winter.

Summer lasts a bit longer here, you can always come to the NC Coast when fall hits Colorado. I guarantee shorts, t-shirts and flip flops will be still in use with abandon well into September/October here. Really.

Enjoy the lake and the friends.

Ohh have a good time!! And I sometimes say 'y'all' too. I find that I do this most when I'm at the farm. Or, when I'm wearing my sheriff's badge. (And no, I'm not joking) Have a safe and fun trip!

I'm camping again this weekend, Site 21 at Rissers Beach, NS. Hard to sleep with the relentless pounding ocean surf 25 feet off the back of the trailer. Too bad is still foggy and rainy...and 55 degrees at the moment. Hard not to be happy though.
