Just Once

Just once, I'd like to respond to one of these men in their fifties who email me, a twenty-seven year-old woman, and say things like "I want to make your dreams come true." Really? Because my dreams start with avoiding being freaked out by men too old for me!

But I know that would be wrong, so I just delete the messages. It's like in the old vampire movies: They can't come in unless you invite them.

Good point, try to remember that as I'm sure they will continue to come creeping out of the woodwork.

I think its funny when you look at their profile THEY are 50 something but the age range they want is 25-35!!! Explain to me why they think we want them at their age if they don't want women at their age?!?!

(other than being sugar Daddy and maybe they are ok with that...eeeeewwww)

Older is ok but not when it starts creapy!

Skinny- I guess in this way, online dating is no different than being out in public and being hit on by people that you know aren't right for you.

Singleton- Oh, maybe so. I hadn't thought of that.

RGF- Yeah, nothing wrong with an age difference. But when someone's the same age as my dad, I just can't go there.

That's part of why I stopped the online thing!! Those creepy old men, and most of them not even from my area...so what, you think I'm going to attempt getting to know you when you're that old and live that far away and aren't even hot?? It's creepy. I figured I'm not that hard up for a date. Then there was the guy that e-mailed how much we had in common, I read his profile and asked exactly what...I said how I loved to travel and had been to Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, and couldn't wait to get back to Europe...he wrote back the travel (his profile said how much he loved MN and loved going up north) and I said how I was looking to even get out of MN, he came back with how I was lying on my profile, that I'm not "that hot" and that I was a b***h and guys are looking for younger than me, etc, etc...very, very nasty...He actually was kind of cute, till I found out what a freak he was, and all this cause I didn't see what he saw that we had in comme and actually asked...sigh...Hope you have better luck!!

i guess those guys have to cast their nets wide? i never got it either. why do we bother filling out a profile when they never read it!?

OMG - These people are nutters! You should keep track and write a book...

That old addage "You never know unless you try" really was not meant for the Internet age. I've always wondered what would make those guys think someone young enough to be their daughter would be interested.

They're hoping they can play the sugar daddy stereotype. But, message to skeevy old dudes, we all have our own jobs now.

that sounds like a line from drama tv or an ad for a phone sex line - how hilarious.

I hope your knee gets better SOON! I can't imagine what that's like, not being able to do what you love/need. But, I do have chronic/hereditary knee problems and I CAN understand the pain. I agree with you about being "turned off" by such extreme close-mindedness! Although I also dislike country, I wouldn't be so adamant about it (what if country was your fav music?). And, what a funny message. Maybe you can copy & paste them into one document & print it out--for those days you need something to laugh at?
