We will all have had enough by the time it's done

The day I bought this camera, I knew exactly how it would be. I knew I'd be the girl walking around with her camera ALL THE TIME. I knew I'd take it everywhere and I knew I'd annoy the heck out of everyone I know because of it. When I was a kid, Unlce Joe was just about as in love with his video camera as any man should ever be with an electronic. We'd joke that he'd "follow you into the bathroom with that thing" if you didn't stop him. He's still a little like that today, though sometimes without the camera. Weird.

At any rate, the point is that Uncle Joe and his camera? They ain't got nothin' on me. And to be honest, I totally love it. I love looking at life through a lens, I love taking pictures of everything I can and I love taking pictures that other people end up loving. It's a joy that I completely expected and yet, a brand new feeling. If that isn't some version of love, then I couldn't tell you what is.

It is a fact, however, that I love the people in my life, too. Therefore following those people around constantly clicking away can get a little old for them. I understand, I've been there. As a result, I'm stuck mostly with inanimate objects and random pieces of life in front of my lens, which couldn't make me happier.

Just today, while walking the dog, I noticed all the yellow that popped up to signify Spring has started to change.

Slowly, the brightness is fading into the little puffs of seed- at least an afternoon's worth of entertainment.

I remember, as a kid, always wondering how a thick, yellow dandelion could turn into such a perfectly shaped round orb.

We called them ghost flowers.

Even the dog gets it.

I took nearly one hundred photos during this walk. I will likely be boring you with them over the weekend. They are mostly of blooming trees and flowers and puffy white clouds, though.

Because even if she's supposed to be my constant, animate subject, even Lola has had enough*.

*This is not just some lucky shot of my dog gazing into the trees, she is actually refusing to look at me.

Riley used to puff his hair up till it looked like a dandelion in seed. I still don't know how he did it.

I love Lola!! I'm considering investing in a camera and becoming a girl 'who goes everywhere' with hers, so I may be asking you for some tips in the future. You take great photos!

We call them "wishies" and make wishes as we blow the fluff off of them. They are all over Small Campus right this very second and have been making me quite sentimental lately!

Bre beat me to it but we did the same thing.

And what is it about the camera shy dogs? As soon as I hit click she turns her head. I was curious to know if the SLR would cure the problem - but perhaps not.

Sizzle- Oh that is so fun!

Michelle- We used to do that with the static from a balloon. I wish I still could. I would do it at work.

Brandy- Thanks. I will answer any question I can, but I don't know much... yet.

Bre- Oh yes, we made wishes on them, too! SO fun!

e.b. The SLR definitely helps with the movement. However, she sees the camera come out and won't even look to begin with. Stubborn.

I love not only your pictures, but your almost poetic descriptions of them. And I kinda like shots of inanimate objects - they don't move so much.

One of my children came home yesterday and taught me the french pronunciation of 'dandelion'.

I have become a digi camera person in that I now have four of them - they keep coming out with a new bell or whistle! I take a little one with me everywhere to capture the butterflies, flowers, or my daughter being extraordinarily cute. At one point she hated her picture taken so would stick out her tongue - ruining the shot. I started focusing on trees and flowers - suddenly having her picture taken wasn't a big deal. I have a feeling that won't work with your dog though!

Great picture of the dandelion!

Yeah, I understand once can't stick the camera into people's faces all the time. But I love photographing people more than anything else.

One day I am going to buy one of those gigantic zoom lenses.

Ginger- Is the French pronounciation as simple as I think it is? :)

Josh- Thanks.

Exception- I bet you have some cute tongue shots, though!

Lia- Ohhhhhh... you and me, both!

Lola is lovely, but oh what a diva!

My daughter is a camerahead as well. She tends to take urban shots and extreme closeups. And she likes to take her camera on the train downtown and pretend she doesn't live in the burbs.

I guess it's safe to say that you're now Uncle Joe.

Rotflmao at your dogs last pic! Mine do the same thing! They see the camera anymore & zoom! They pivot their head around!
Your nature shots are really pretty! Keep on snapping those pics & take it with you everywhere! It's only when I leave mine at home that I see something completely worth photo-taking.

Nice pictures. Your dog is hilarious. I've never heard "ghost flowers" before and I think it's the coolest name for a dandelion ever.

It's nice to know that someone can appreciate dandelions. When I see them in my lawn, my blood pressure goes up.
