Re:

It's list time.

Re: Sailing trip
Still working out the details. There's a little more cost involved than I thought but something's still telling me I need to do it. So what's the best way to tell people you're skipping Christmas [gifts] this year?

Re: Half marathon
I'm doing one in a couple weeks. Or didn't I mention that? Yeah, I plan to bring my little camera and make it a "fun run." If I thought this were anywhere near a PR opportunity, I'd need a psychiatric evaluation. Immediately.

Re: Dating
It is less fun than it used to be. I don't like the dragging out of it all. But hey, I'm okay with that. It could be worse, I could be an astronaut.

Re: George Strait
Remains one of my favorite things in music. He was in Denver last weekend. Leave your smoke and mirrors at home, kids, this guy doesn't need any of that, and that's just the way I like it. And if I'm being totally honest, the guy could walk out on stage and sing names from the phone book and I'd love it.

Re: Weather
It has been beautiful here. Spring is coming, I need not whine any longer about hating Winter. I am not sure who's more relieved, you or me.

Re: Caffeine
I haven't had any in three weeks. Some might say I gave it up for Lent, but just started early. I might say I just wanted to see if I could. So far, I can and against all my prior beliefs, I'm not dead yet. I also feel better, I can't explain how. More calm, maybe? I don't know. I'm sure it won't last forever, though. I love chai tea too much.

RE: how to tell people no gifts? You say, "I'm going sailing. No gifts this year! I'll send you a pretty postcard." :)

You make it sound easy, and it probably is.

No caffeine? OMG! You must have some kick-ass will power.

In my fuzzy mind, caffiene from tea doesn't count. I used to be a heavy coffee drinker, but had to give that up when my stomach went bad on me, but hot tea, iced tea, chai tea...I gotta have those. I figure since I don't drink coffee or pop, I'm good. Please don't try to tell me any different...

And a half coming up? That's way cool - you know every run should be a fun run. Who cares about Public Relations anyway? Oh, wait, that's not the PR you meant?

I wish I could say that about our weather...but I know spring is almost here. I agree with sizzle on the gift thing!! Caffeine...I don't take in that much, and have tried to cut back even more myself. Only nights I'm up late at B&N and on occasion, a can of soda only cause I like it...not so much caring about the caffeine.

Of course you cannot let $ stop you. You can always make more $, but you can not produce another sailing trip. Tell everybody: due to a glitch in the universal makeup your disposition has been switched from that of a generous, gift-bearing soul to a self-absorbed egotistical monster. X-mas will be cancelled, the stores will be in mourning, the national economy will slump. You will undergo extensive repairs AT SEA, and the world will be returned afterwards to its rightful settings.

I have to listen to this George Strait.

Could you spare some of that good weather? I just bought some truly adorable spring shoes and it's snowing again!

RE: Half Marathon

I'll be running one in late April... hadn't thought of bringing a camera along but love the idea. I'll see if I can't borrow a tiny one from a friend (mine is heavy & I'd likely decide to chuck it about mile 4). :)

I gave up the caffeine too...it hasn't been as hard as I thought. But...certainly do WANT some coffee.

It's been warm here too. Lots of snow melting really fast.

Are you sure there's such a thing as no caffeine?

That just doesn't compute.

People will be relieved to not gifts this year, trust me. Just tell texchange hem early before they start buying crap. And it will be so worth it to go sailing!

Isn't chai tea made with black tea? Or can you make it with caffeineless tea as well?

Okay, to be honest, I have two windows open - so I can see your comments at the same time as I type. The sailing trip? Give them photos - people love picures and art. You really ought to make the sailing happen. I'm stoked that you're doing a half with your camera - I love your style of photography of life in progress. Dating? You don't need it. You're so on top of your world - if it happens, it'll happen when it wants to - get on with your world. George Strait - I'm thinking 80's and you're mature way beyond your age - I know that already. Weather . . who's more relieved? Me. Then I don't need to post a new photo of spring blossoms on my blog. Caffeine - I'm sorta jealous. Last summer, I cut back to one in the am, and that works for me. Nothing is forever - life changes on you.

I can let you know, chai tea has about the same amount of caffeine is decaf coffee. It's really there for flavor, but it will not jolt you awake. Chai on.

I'm doing a fun run this weekend in diapers. I always wanted to be an astronaut.

Sailing - Just tell them straight up that the gift they are going to get is a story of a great adventure.

Half Marathon - How do you run and take pics at the same time? Looking forward to seeing those.

Dating - I'm still in total shock at how an intelligent and balanced individual chosen to be an astronaut can lose her mind like that. Must be the G force. It's scary what the heart can make people do.

George Strait - I'll get back to you on that...I don't know him.

Weather - I sure as hell am not relieved seeing that we went from 55 during the week to -15 in the past two days. I'm not so sick of winter as I am of the bitter cold. We need to establish a rule, no going below 30 and we'll call it a winter!

Caffeine - I so totally know where you are coming from. I didn't purposefully give up caffeine but it dawned on me that I just forget to drink it in the morning as I'm rushing out the door and it really doesn't make much of a difference to me.
