I was only having fun, wasn't hurting anyone
I walked into the lobby at work this morning and "You May Be Right" was playing. Hardly elevator music, right?
So, I took my time getting to the elevator- you know, to jam a little at 6:00 a.m.- and when I stepped in, the security guard was there and he and I joked about how strange it was to hear that song in an elevator.
Then, we proceeded to sing along for the rest of the song. I promise, we did. That is the strangest thing that's happened to me in an elevator (get your mind out of the gutter).

Billy Joel
You May Be Right
Friday night I crashed your party
Saturday I said I'm sorry
Sunday came and trashed me out again
I was only having fun
Wasn't hurting any one
And we all enjoyed the weekend for a change
I've been stranded in the combat zone
I walked through Bedford Stuy alone
Even rode my motorcycle in the rain
And you told me not to drive
But I made it home alive
So you said that only proves that I'm insane
You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right
Remember how I found you there
Alone in your electric chair
I told you dirty jokes until you smiled
You were lonely for a man
I said take me as I am
Cause you might enjoy some madness for a while
Now think of all the years you tried to
Find someone to satisfy you
I might be as crazy as you say
If I'm crazy then it's true
That it's all because of you
And you wouldn't want me any other way
You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic your looking for
It's too late to fight
Don't try to change me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right
You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right

FUN!! Elevator singing!! What could be better at 6am?!?! And a classic song too!
i so love that song and was just singing it yesterday, though not in an elevator. :)
and singing along with someone in an elevator totally defies all elevator ettiquette rules- go you! rebel!
um, where do you work that you have to go to work at 6am!? holy crap!
Singing in the elevator with the security guard - it's like you're living a movie! I can only imagine that when you got to your office you joined three secretaries in a song and dance through the cubicles...
So the two of your were Bosom Buddies?
Were you Henry or Kip?
(it was the theme song)
RGF- Few things are better at 6:00 am... but I'm certain something is. :-)
Sizz- Yes! That's what I thought.
And I work in IT... some of these people don't even leave the office, muchless sleep past 5:00 in the morning.
BackofPack- That is going to be next week, for sure!
JACC- I didn't even think of that! Ha!
Odd that Billy Joel is reduced to the elevator. Usually, it's cheezy instrumentals and rarely the original. Must be a hip building.
Seriously? How could you not sing along to a little Billy Joel!?!
That is quite lovely! :)
